Save Our Strays
Animal Shelter
The Save Our Strays (S.O.S.) Animal Shelter was founded in 1981 to
rescue stray and unwanted dogs and cats. Six years of hard work by
dedicated volunteers and financial contributions from individuals and
businesses allowed us to open our present no kill shelter in 1987. We
receive no public funding. We are a private, 501 (c)(3) non-profit
organization that relies exclusively on contributions and fund raising.
S.O.S. focuses the majority of its efforts in three areas. First, and
foremost, S.O.S. provides a safe home for unwanted dogs and cats.
Secondly, it tries to place these animals in good homes. Finally,
S.O.S. seeks to educate the public about dog and cat overpopulation
and the benefits of adopting a companion pet from a shelter.
S.O.S. serves this community and is dedicated to maintaining a no
kill shelter. Our current renovation and expansion projects reflect our
commitment to ending the tragedy of pet overpopulation. To date we
have rescued, rehabilitated, spayed, neutered, and adopted out over
2,500 pets. Unfortunately, we turn many animals away because our
current facilities are too small and understaffed. Your support for our
organization and your tax deductible donations can assist us in
ending the needless suffering of thousands of animals.
